Default D16RR Tuning

In for 1000km first maintenance:

Before tuning:

After tuning:

Before they "stripped" the bike, it was on the dyno. This one was fitted with the "race" exhaust & ecu and had appr. 175pk** at the wheel.

Figures after tuning (and hopefully a graph) in a few weeks...

** I don't know how to calculate into HP. The 175pk is corrected DIN PK.

1 PK = 0.9863 hp (SAE)

So it makes as much power with the pipe as your average Jap literbike (with a pipe).

Well, they're only advertising 180 at the rear wheel, so it fits in with different dynos-different-days.

Still, that's pretty pathetic if your conversion is right.

BTW, that doesn't look like the 600 mile maintenance to me....

EDIT: So, that's only 68 hp behind the factory bike.

Hem: the factory said the power of the RR is 200 hp with racing exhaust and 187 hp with street legal exhaust, but measured AT THE ENGINE. That's written here :
http://www.ducati.com/en/bikes/my200...=DesmosediciRR
All the japanese and european bike manufacturers, in their sales material, give the power at the engine...

It should be about 15% less at the rear wheel, as on every bike, so about 170 hp racing pipes and about 162 street legal pipes.

Different mechanics told me to check the desmodromic valves you have to remove the frame on the D16RR.

So you pretty much take it apart .

And yes, this particular dealer tunes a lot of bikes during maintenance, because the bike is open anyway. It's a small step in this stage to remove the heads and tune them.

Typically Ducati's numbers come from some sort of inertial dynamometer. For example, on their site, the 1098 is listed as having 160 hp, yet it makes 150. That's not 15% (which would be 136!). That's about 7%

200 hp if it's reported in the same way by Ducati as the 1098 would be 186. If it's an engine hp, then yes, it would make sense for 170-172. Which, by the way, places it firmly in 1098R territory or, more likely, below it.

For some comparisons, a stock Suzuki GSX-R1000 with a pipe would make about 180 rwhp and with superstock engine work would make about 195 on U4.2

So, if the desmosedici "GP" replica is making 170, then that's pathetic plain and simple. There's no ifs ands or butts about it, for a bike that weighs more than a 1098R and costs 70 thousand dollars.
